2016 International Community School (ICS) Demo Report
October 7th
Host - Ted Over, Intl Studies Teacher CTE Business Law and Criminal Justice, Presenter/Demonstrator - Jim Keffer

For the second year in a row, International Community School's teacher Ted Over invited members of the Puget Sound Knappers to demonstrated and discuss stone tools and technology. PSK mmebers Jim Keffer, Barry Bonnell and Max Grow demonstrated various flintknapping processes including 'Abo' spalling, bi-face reduction and arrowhead pressure flaking to a group of about 65 seventh graders.

As expected, the students of ICS were very engaged and interactive. They asked plenty of great questions during the question and answer portion and paid very close attention to the actual flintknapping demo. The students were very much into 'hands on' learning, each took the opportunity to handle not only the stone tools, scrapers, cerimonial blades and the various knappable rocks, but were interested in the tools use to create knapped tools.

The Puget Sound Knappers appreciates the opportunity to share with the students of ICS the 'Acient Art of Flintknapping' and hope to continue to do so in the future. No Photos
